Feyenoord Rotterdam chooses GrassMaster for new training complex

At the start of the new 2018-2019 season Feyenoord Rotterdam will train on GrassMaster. The players of the first team will be able to enjoy a brand new training centre, for which the club chose to install Tarkett Sports’ hybrid system.

By opting for GrassMaster, Feyenoord joins other Dutch clubs such as AFC Ajax, FC Groningen, AZ Alkmaar and FC Utrecht; who also train on the hybrid grass pitch.

A GrassMaser pitch is a 100% natural sports grass pitch, reinforced by 20 million polypropylene fibres. With the help of machines the fibres are injected 18 cm deep, in a grid of approximately 2 cm x 2 cm to provide vertical reinforcement throughout the pitch. This system allows the natural grass roots to entwine with the fibres and to grow deeper and wider, creating a stronger and healthier rootzone. The PP fibres above the surface will ensure that Feyenoord’s teams get up to 3 times more hours of practice on an always even and stable surface.
